Yeah so I didn't update while I was playing, sorry to nobody that reads this :D
Anyways, took me a long ass time to beat 5, but at least from this point on (until 9), I have a pretty good idea of how long all the games are and vaguely what to expect next.
As for what I thought of 5 I thought the first half of the game (first 4 crystals) was kind of slow and dull, it's not until you get to the 2nd "part" (trying to avoid as many spoilers as I can XD) that the game picks up. The last ~10 hours of the game are just amazing, really some of Sakaguchi's best work. The music was great too, hats off to Uematsu. The things I enjoyed in 5 the most were the little things, like the pianos, mastering abilities, the little hidden passages. The job system was the only thing tha tkept me playing through the first part of the game, while I normally like it when characters have their own jobs (ala FF4), the way they do it in 5 is really cool, it's a shame it was kind of dropped after this one. Besides the pacing in the first part of the game, the only other problem I had was the script. I understand that the game was supposed to be more lighthearted than the others, but ugh, sometimes it was just terrible, though Josh tells me that the original script was bland, so maybe that's for the better.
Screenshot time! I got 3 this time, I wasn't sure what to take so from top to bottom its the game clear screen, the "The End" screen, and a snapshot of neo exdeath - the last boss (he looks pretty fucking crazy, doesn't he? I especially like the weird dead.... things on his left side).
I'm probably not going to start on 6 right away because I am getting tired of grinding and stuff, but I will definitely at least get through 6 before the break is over, <3 that game.
Oh yes, and ignore how long the timer says there, I would say it took me closer to 30 hours, but when I was grinding I would hold down the speed up thing on the emulator.
